A passenger on the empty last train: Bayside Monorail investigates figure on cabin camera

The figure has been recorded at least six times since mid-month, always near the same seat on the left side of the car, and never after the train reaches a station. Crew inspections found no one aboard.

The operator states, administratively, that it is "investigating every possibility, including condensation on the camera and reflections." The TDA noted that "the section is under Yuragi restriction, but there is at present no observational basis linking the cabin footage to the phenomenon."

Speculation has spread online, and people have begun gathering along the line at the hour of the last run. The operator asks the public to stay away from the tracks.

A cleaner at Fukagawa Station, 64, offered this: "Some nights, after the last train, you hear footsteps getting off on the empty platform. Forty years I've done this job. Not once have I thought it was anything bad."
