Window 2's 'Calling Exchange': Interval Shortens for a Second Straight Time — Acoustic Team 'Not Ready to Call It a Pattern'

The TDA's Dimensional Survey Division on the 29th released interim acoustic findings on the 'calling exchange' observed at Window 2, 'the Sea of Mechanisms' — first seen Sept. 23 and observed again the night of the 27th into the 28th, both previously reported. The interval between the metallic tones shortened by roughly 20 percent on average from the first observation to the second, and a simple extrapolation would suggest a further shortening on a third occasion — but the acoustic team is holding firm that 'two data points don't make a pattern.' The towers show no change in height or shape, and the division again stopped short of calling it 'communication.'

The TDA's Dimensional Survey Division released interim acoustic findings on the 29th regarding the "calling exchange" observed at Window 2, "the Sea of Mechanisms" — first seen on Sept. 23 and observed again from the night of the 27th into the 28th, both previously reported. Comparing the two recordings, the interval between the metallic tones the two tower-like structures exchange shortened by an average of about 20 percent between the first and second observations, while the pitch and volume of the tones showed no notable change. "The '20 percent' figure itself is solid," an official said, "but whether it continues, or whether the two observations just happened to line up that way, is impossible to distinguish at this point."

The acoustic team's caution comes down to having only two observations so far. "You can draw a straight line between two points, but that doesn't mean it's a pattern. It's entirely possible this trend breaks down on a third or fourth occasion," the official said. As previously reported, the towers' height and shape showed no change, and no drift object was recovered this time either — reconfirming that Window 2 remains the only lineage from which no drift object has ever been recovered since the system began. The division held to its established caution against calling it "communication," with the official repeating, "All we can say is that sound is being produced."

To improve observation precision going forward, the division revealed it is considering expanding the number of microphones in the window room from the current single unit to several, in order to separate and record the sound sources from each tower individually. If realized, this could make it possible to track more precisely which tower sounds first and whether any regularity exists in the changing interval. No timeline has been set. Window 2 is expected to remain on the agenda when the external expert panel convenes in November.

According to the window keepers' log, one entry from the opening late on the 27th read simply, "This time felt faster than before." One keeper told this paper, "Having a gut feeling turned into an actual number feels like getting your answer checked. But honestly, I have no idea whether it'll be faster or slower next time." The acoustic team's response: "Not knowing what to expect is probably the more accurate feeling to have."

Window 2's 'Calling Exchange' Observed Again — Faster Tempo Than Before

The TDA's Dimensional Survey Division announced on the 28th that it again observed the 'calling exchange,' first reported on Sept. 23, during Window 2's opening onto 'the Sea of Mechanisms' (Lineage 19) from late on the 27th into the early hours of the 28th. The interval between the metallic tones the two tower-like structures exchange was recorded at a somewhat faster tempo than last time. The division again avoided calling it 'communication,' and what the change in tempo means remains an open, unresolved question.

Window 2's Two Towers 'Call' to Each Other for the First Time — a Brief Reopening Before Dawn on the 23rd

Stable Window 2, 'the Sea of Mechanisms' (Lineage 19), in the bay warehouse district, briefly reopened before dawn on the 23rd — six days after its previously reported reopening on the 17th. Between the tower-like structure that split from one into two on the 17th, officials observed for the first time what appears to be a metallic 'call and response.' The Dimensional Survey Division remains cautious, saying there is no basis to call it communication.
